The correct use of elastic bandages:

1. Use bandages of different widths according to different parts. Generally, small elastic bandages (width 7.5X450cm) are used for upper limbs, medium elastic bandages (width 10X450cm) are used for knees, and large elastic bandages (width 15*450cm) are used for knees. ; The method of dressing depends on the purpose of use. The elastic bandage used to support the circulation should support the veins, offset the increased venous pressure, and should not be too pressure to limit the venous return or arterial blood supply as the principle.

2. The elastic bandage must be flat without wrinkles, especially in the joints. For example, after the knee joint is moved, the bandage is easy to wrinkle, which makes the popliteal fossa compress, just like a tourniquet. The tightness of the winding should also be appropriate, and the degree of self-comfort after bandaging should be considered. Bandaging of elastic bandages should be carried out every morning before getting up. If the patient has already got up, the patient should be placed in bed again, the limbs should be raised, the venous blood can be drained, and then the bandage should be performed.

3. When bandaging, start from the feet and gradually wind up, until the desired height is reached. During the dressing process, the two adjacent layers of elastic bandages should be overlapped by about two-thirds, otherwise, it will not be easy to flatten after the dressing, and they should be removed before going to bed every night.

An elastic bandage is a special elastic bandage that prevents and helps eliminate edema and varicose veins of the lower limbs. Improper use can also cause complications.

4. During the use of elastic bandages, the skin color of the limbs and the swelling of the affected limbs should be observed daily in order to observe its effects. Patients with non-surgical treatment of varicose veins of the lower extremities should insist on using elastic bandages every day for a long time; patients with deep vein thrombosis must use elastic bandages whether they are in the restricted activity period or after starting activities, for at least 3 months, or even for life. To protect superficial vein and communicating vein valve function, reduce or eliminate symptoms.
